Basile Chrétien

As a passionate Senior Pharmacologist and Hospital Practitioner with over 10 years of experience in drug safety, pharmacoepidemiology, and toxicology, I specialize in leveraging biostatistics, database management, and machine learning to drive innovative, data-driven research in medicine. I also serve as a pharmacovigilance expert for France's medicines safety agency (ANSM) and develop open, reproducible research tools, including the vigicaen R package on CRAN, Open Editors Plus, and SigmaCV. In 2024, I completed a Master's in Biostatistics at Paris-Saclay University to strengthen my analytical skills and expand my use of machine learning, which I now apply daily in my research. I am currently in the second year of my PhD in International Medical Education at Nagoya University's Graduate School of Medicine, where I am developing an active-learning web platform in medicine for integration into the curricula of Nagoya and Caen universities. This project aims to improve medical education through culturally inclusive, adaptive learning environments supported by machine-learning-based outcome analysis. I also co-lead CANAL-AI, a Caen–Nagoya federated-learning collaboration applying privacy-preserving machine learning to cardiovascular outcomes in cancer patients across French and Japanese health data. Beyond this, I contribute as a biostatistician and author across numerous research projects, with more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. I thrive in international environments and am dedicated to building bridges across cultures.     Abstract

    This is the preregistration of an observational study examining how researchers are represented in open scholarly data and how they present themselves on academic CVs. It uses SigmaCV, an open-source web application that auto-generates academic CVs from open research data (OpenAlex, ORCID, Crossref, and related sources). Study A (disambiguation error) quantifies how often works automatically attributed to a researcher by open data sources are false positives — not actually theirs — based on participant adjudication, and estimates how correcting these false positives changes the h-index. Study B (metric-display norms) examines whether, when metric display is opt-in with a default of "none," researchers who display any metric choose the h-index more often than field-normalised indicators. The design is a non-interventional secondary analysis of consent-based, pseudonymised platform data from a single worldwide cohort of consenting adult (18+) SigmaCV users; the two studies share one participant pool and one consent. This preregistration fixes only the two confirmatory hypotheses (H1-A, H1-B) and their analyses; all other analyses (predictors of error, name-script and surname-commonness equity, predictive models, latent CV-style classes, biomedical-subgroup descriptives) are exploratory and reported with effect sizes and confidence intervals. Expected outcomes: a participant-adjudicated false-positive attribution rate and its effect on the h-index (with a reference-standard validation substudy and quantitative bias analysis), and the distribution of metric-display choices under an opt-in/default-none regime. Reporting follows STROBE; de-identified, aggregate data and analysis code will be shared consistent with consent. Ethics review is underway at the Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine Bioethics Review Committee (observational-research panel; pre-review no. CRE-2026-255); data collection begins only after approval.
